Die sieben Todsünden in collaboration with The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra

2018 — Die sieben Todsünden by Kurt Weill and his longstanding collaborative partner Bertolt Brecht, is a ‘ballet chanté’ for five solo singers, a solo dancer, corps de ballet and orchestra.

In this concert – here without dancers – two ‘Annas’ haul themselves from city to city in order to earn themselves enough for a place to live. Anna I, played by Wende, is the voice of good conscience, continually trying to keep the impulsive Anna II on the straight and narrow. During seven acts they journey through seven American cities, where the ‘seven sins of the bourgeoisie’ reign supreme.
